Checklist for publishing a blog post
Pre-publish checklist:
- Spell & grammar check
- Check to make sure American-English is used
- Does the post clearly communicate what you want to say?
- Is it as long as it needs to be and no longer? Anything words/sentences you can remove?
- Does the post have a summary (introtext)?
- Can the resource alias be shortened?
- Do all the links work?
Post-publish checklist:
- Share post on Facebook
- Share post on Twitter
- Share post on Twitter 12 hours later
Publishing a release
There are 3 kinds of releases:
- Major releases (such as v1 to v2) which include breaking changes
- Minor releases (such as v1.0 to v1.1) which include new features
- Patch releases (such as v1.0.0 to v1.0.1) which include bug fixes
Major and minor releases usually require blog posts (see above checklist). Patch releases just require a forum post and a link from Twitter/Facebook.
Images
Use JPEG for photos. If an image has less than 256 colours and no transparency, use PNG8. Always run any images through a tool such as ImageOptim.
